Pyramida Center for Contemporary Art combines artists'
studios with a gallery for the promotion of contemporary visual arts
and exchange between Israeli and international artists. Pyramida offers
a worksite for professional Israeli artists, promoting their work
and exposing artistic projects to the general public. With a focus
on contemporary art from Israel and around the world, Pyramida serves
as a meeting ground for Israeli artists and their international peers.
Pyramida is a non-profit organizatio. Established in 1992 by a group of renowned
Israeli artists from Haifa and northern Israel.
Every few years one of Pyramida's members is nominated as chairman.
The Pyramida center is located in Wadi Saliv, a low income
neighborhood. Housed in an abandoned school building whose use was
donated by the municipality of Haifa, Pyramida now sits in a partially
renovated facility.
Pyramida currently houses the studios of 11 artists.
In addition to it's five member artists, Pyramida offers working spaces
to six young artists for a period of two years.
Pyramida's goals are:
• To serve as a bridge between the art
community and the general public.
• To provode working facilities and exposure
for local artists.
• To promote Israeli and international
contemporary art.
